Windows XP Optimization Tips

1, optimizing the startup settings (for Home Edition and Professional Edition)

If make sure the system does not add new device, you can delete or set the size the file of directory\ windows \ system \ dellcache,to release the space.
Delete all files command is sfc.exe / purgecache (sfc.exe /? View the meaning of command parameters), about 300MB, this operation is dangerous.
5, Close the system backup (for Home Edition “HomeEdition” and the professional edition of “Professional”)

For instance, your memory is 256M, you can set it to 640,install the operating system on the D drive, set the memory on the C drive.
6, Delete some unuseful things(for Home Edition “HomeEdition” and the professional edition of “Professional”)
1. Remove the drive back up
under “\ windows \ Driver cache \ i386″ ,the Driver.cab file, about 70MB.
2. Delete the Help files
under “\ Windows \ Help”, , about 40MB
3. Remove the alternate DLL files
“\ Windows \ System32 \ Dllcache”, is about 200MB. Good to have a backup installation CD or installation files to backup.
4. Remove unused input method
“Windows \ Ime”, such as Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese input method.
7, turn off some features (for Home Edition “HomeEdition” and the professional edition of “Professional”)
1. Turn off the System Restore feature
“My Computer” – “” Properties “-” “System Restore”, select “on all drives Turn off System Restore.”turn off unimportant System Restore partition. If you consider system security,can not turn off Restore.
2. Turn off Automatic Updates
“My Computer” – “” Properties “-” “Automatic Updates”, select “Turn off automatic updates, I will manually update your computer.”
3. Close Remote Desktop
“My Computer” – “” Properties “-” “remote”, “Remote Desktop” inside “allows users to connect remotely to this computer” marking removed.
4. Cancel the hibernation feature
“My Computer” – “” Power Management “-” “sleep” will “Enable Hibernation” before the hook removed, about 200MB
8, other optimization settings (for Home Edition “HomeEdition” and the professional edition of “Professional”)
1. Install program to other disk (not installed on the system disk below)
2. The “My Documents” folder are transferred to other districts
In the desktop “My Documents” icon is right-click your mouse and select “Properties” – “” mobile “, press Chart settings:

Open the IE browser, select “Tools” -> “internet options” – “” General “-” “Settings” in the Settings dialog box by pressing the pop-up map settings:
