Is My Modem Kfc?
Posted in Computer Network Support by manyuI was online and got an ie error in chat (script kiddies u got to love them) Msn decided to kick me off right at that moment and the msnia virus popped up to reconect(even when I use a dun that thing will pop up on me) Everything froze on me and I had to pull the plug. When I tried to dial back up I get can not find dial tone. I checked the phone line it is fine. Diagnostics says it sees the modem. I shut down again and restarted now im getting noise and the operator saying please hang up. btw there was a storm going on at the time. I have never had a fried modem befor so Im not sure if this is what is wrong or not. Its a 3com robotics 56k v90. external. My os is windows 98 se .
The modem is not dialing. It is making clicking noises like it is trying to dial. The operator I hear is the one you hear when someone leaves the phone off of the base and forgets about it. I tried dialing the number with the phone,all I get are some weird ufo type noises. I created another dun with a different access number and I am still getting the same thing. The access number is the one I am using to connect with the lap and it is working fine. grrrr I hate hardware
